KATHMANDU, Sept 5: The monsoon trough has shifted south of its usual position, the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) reported Thursday.

Cloudy skies will blanket most parts of the country this afternoon, with light to moderate showers forecast for parts of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, the hilly belt, and a few areas of the Tarai.
By nightfall, rainfall is expected to intensify. Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces are likely to see moderate showers, while heavy downpours could lash one or two hilly locations in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki, the MFD cautioned.
