KATHMANDU, Sept 25: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has proposed dissolving the party’s existing Central Committee to pave the way for new leadership.
Addressing party cadres at a Central Committee meeting held at the National Academy building, Dahal said all committees should be dissolved and fresh leadership elected through a special convention in December. He argued that the present political context requires both structural reorganization and generational change.

Dahal stressed the need for sacrifice within the party, saying it was not necessary for him to remain in power all the time. He also urged party leaders to prepare for the March 5 election, which he described as the only way to safeguard democracy in the country.
Party Vice Chair and Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota informed that Dahal’s proposal will first be discussed in upcoming Standing Committee meetings before being tabled for endorsement at the Central Committee meeting scheduled for September 25.
The proposal comes in the wake of the Gen-Z protest of September 8 and 9, which mounted pressure on all major political parties to restructure themselves and give space to new leadership.
