CHITWAN, Sept 25: A free bus service has been arranged for passengers stranded by the landslide at Tuinkhola along the Narayanghat–Muglin road section.

Nepal Police began operating the service on Tuesday, targeting passengers affected by the landslide over the past two days. According to DSP Govinda Puri, chief of Chitwan District Police Office, two school buses belonging to the Police School in Shantipur are being used for the purpose.

The service is intended for passengers who reach the bridge at Panchkilo via the Tanahun route. “We have launched a free bus service to Bharatpur for the stranded passengers who arrive at the Panchkilo bridge on foot or through the alternative Tanahun route,” Puri said.

The police dispatch a bus from Bharatpur once passengers gather at Panchkilo and then transport them to Bharatpur.

Since the road was blocked, passengers had to walk and take the alternative route. Frequent landslides have made road clearance difficult at times.

The landslide at Tuinkhola is expected to be cleared by Friday. Although the landslide that occurred last Friday was cleared and the road reopened, another landslide blocked the section again on Tuesday. Efforts to clear the debris have been ongoing since early Wednesday morning.
