Over 138,000 people leave Kathmandu in first three days of Dashain

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: More than 138,000 people have left Kathmandu Valley in the first three days of Dashain, according to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.



A total of 138,296 passengers departed between September 22 and 24. On Ghatasthapana (September 22), 40,923 travelers left the Valley, followed by 39,814 on September 23 and 57,559 on September 24. Most left through the Thankot, Sanga, Dakshinkali, and Balaju checkpoints.

Traffic police officials said people living in the Valley for work, study, or business have started returning to their hometowns to celebrate the festival.


However, landslides triggered by rainfall on highways—particularly along the Muglin–Narayanghat section—have caused hours-long traffic disruptions, affecting bus schedules.
