RAUTAHAT, Aug 27: Laxman Paswan, the main accused in the murder of 30-year-old Ruby Devi Sah of Madhavnarayan Municipality-6, Madhopur has been referred to Kirtipur Hospital in Kathmandu for further treatment after sustaining critical injuries from a self-immolation attempt.
Paswan, from the same area, attempted to set himself on fire in a paddy field about 500 metres west of the village, Superintendent of Police (SP) Netramani Giri of the District Police Office (DPO), Rautahat, said. A police team led by DSP Raju Karki, spokesperson of the DPO, rescued Paswan and took him to Better Nepal Hospital in Garuda.

On the fifth day after fleeing following Ruby’s murder, Paswan reached his ancestral village, poured petrol over himself and set himself on fire. Sunil Prasad Sah, proprietor of Better Nepal Hospital, Garuda, said that about 60 percent of his body was burned due to the self-immolation.
Paswan, who was taken to Better Nepal Hospital by police, has been referred to Kirtipur Burn Hospital for further treatment after receiving first aid, as his head, abdomen and back were completely burned.
According to police, Ruby and Laxman were former lovers. Authorities said that further investigation into the incident is currently underway. Police sources confirmed that Paswan has admitted to killing his girlfriend, Ruby, whose body was found inside a suitcase in the road.
