KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Agitating Gen Z protesters set fire to the Parliament building in Baneshwor today, escalating unrest in the capital.
The enraged crowd, demanding accountability for Monday’s violent crackdown on their demonstrations, torched the Parliament building in broad daylight. Earlier, protesters had also set fire to the main gate of Singha Durbar, signaling growing frustration with government actions.

The protests, largely organized by the Gen Z movement, erupted after security forces used bullets, tear gas and water cannons on demonstrations on Monday, resulting in at least 19 deaths nationwide. Prime Minister K P Oli has already tendered resignation following the fallout of the protest.
