KATHMANDU, Aug 30: The Nepali rupee slipped against major currencies on Saturday, with both the US dollar and the euro edging higher, according to the latest foreign exchange rates announced by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
The US dollar climbed as the central bank fixed its buying rate at Rs 140.82 and selling rate at Rs 141.42. This marks an increase from Friday’s rates of Rs 139.91 for buying and Rs 140.51 for selling.
The euro also strengthened, with today’s buying rate set at Rs 164.24 and the selling rate at Rs 164.94. On Friday, the euro was quoted at Rs 163.25 for buying and Rs 163.95 for selling.

Among other currencies, one UK pound sterling is trading at Rs 189.49 (buying) and Rs 190.29 (selling), while one Swiss franc is fixed at Rs 175.51 and Rs 176.26, respectively.
The Australian dollar stands at Rs 91.93 (buying) and Rs 92.32 (selling), the Canadian dollar at Rs 102.42 and Rs 102.85, and the Singapore dollar at Rs 109.56 and Rs 110.02.
In Asian currencies, 10 Japanese yen are valued at Rs 9.57 (buying) and Rs 9.61 (selling), while one Chinese yuan is set at Rs 19.74 and Rs 19.83. The Saudi Arabian riyal is priced at Rs 37.53 and Rs 37.69, and the Qatari riyal at Rs 38.63 and Rs 38.79.
Other notable rates include: Thai baht at Rs 4.34/4.36, UAE dirham at Rs 38.34/38.50, Malaysian ringgit at Rs 33.33/33.47, 100 South Korean won at Rs 10.12/10.16, Swedish krona at Rs 14.87/14.93, and Danish krone at Rs 22.00/22.10.
High-value Gulf currencies also remain firm, with the Kuwaiti dinar trading at Rs 460.74 (buying) and Rs 462.70 (selling), the Bahraini dinar at Rs 373.53 and Rs 375.12, and the Omani rial at Rs 365.77 and Rs 367.33. The Hong Kong dollar is set at Rs 18.06/18.14.
For regional trade, 100 Indian rupees have been set at Rs 160.00 for buying and Rs 160.15 for selling.
