Forex Update: US dollar strengthens against Nepali rupee

The Nepali rupee slipped further against the US dollar on Tuesday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 26: The Nepali rupee slipped further against the US dollar on Tuesday, according to the exchange rates published by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).



The buying rate of one US dollar has climbed to Rs 139.84, while the selling rate stands at Rs 140.44, compared to Rs 139.76 (buying) and Rs 140.36 (selling) on Monday.

Among other major currencies, the euro is priced at Rs 163.54 (buying) and Rs 164.24 (selling), while the UK pound sterling trades at Rs 188.90 and Rs 189.71, respectively. The Swiss franc is set at Rs 174.29 (buying) and Rs 175.04 (selling).


In the region, 10 Japanese yen is valued at Rs 9.49 (buying) and Rs 9.53 (selling), while the Chinese yuan stands at Rs 19.54 and Rs 19.62. The Indian rupee (INR 100) remains steady at Rs 160 (buying) and Rs 160.15 (selling).


High-value currencies also continue to dominate: the Kuwaiti dinar trades at Rs 457.86 (buying) and Rs 459.83 (selling), while the Omani riyal is fixed at Rs 363.22 and Rs 364.78.


NRB noted that exchange rates may be revised when necessary, and commercial banks may quote slightly different figures. For real-time updates, the public is advised to check the central bank’s official website.
