KATHMANDU, Aug 8: The Nepali rupee showed a mild gain against the US dollar on Friday, as per the latest exchange rates published by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) for 22 foreign currencies.
The central bank fixed the buying rate for one US dollar at Rs 140.03 and the selling rate at Rs 140.63 — a slight drop from Thursday’s Rs 140.08 and Rs 140.68, respectively.
Against the euro, the rupee stands at Rs 163.20 (buying) and Rs 163.90 (selling). The UK pound sterling is priced at Rs 187.77 and Rs 188.58, while the Swiss franc trades at Rs 173.45 and Rs 174.20.
Forex Update: US dollar strengthens against Nepali rupee
Among other major currencies, the Australian dollar is set at Rs 91.33 and Rs 91.72; the Canadian dollar at Rs 101.93 and Rs 102.36; and the Singapore dollar at Rs 109.04 and Rs 109.51.
For Asian currencies, 10 Japanese yen fetches Rs 9.50 (buying) and Rs 9.54 (selling). The Chinese yuan stands at Rs 19.51 and Rs 19.59; the Saudi Arabian riyal at Rs 37.31 and Rs 37.47; and the Qatari riyal at Rs 38.42 and Rs 38.58.
Other notable rates include: Thai baht at Rs 4.33 and Rs 4.35; UAE dirham at Rs 38.12 and Rs 38.29; Malaysian ringgit at Rs 33.07 and Rs 33.21; 100 South Korean won at Rs 10.13 and Rs 10.17; Swedish krona at Rs 14.57 and Rs 14.64; and Danish krone at Rs 21.87 and Rs 21.96.
The Hong Kong dollar is pegged at Rs 17.84 and Rs 17.92; the Kuwaiti dinar at Rs 458.35 and Rs 460.31; the Bahraini dinar at Rs 371.42 and Rs 373.01; and the Omani riyal at Rs 363.70 and Rs 365.26. Meanwhile, 100 Indian rupees are valued at Rs 160 (buying) and Rs 160.15 (selling).
The NRB noted that rates may be revised at any time, and commercial banks may set different figures. Updated rates are available on the central bank’s website.
