KATHMANDU, Sept 8: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday nosedived 35.99 points to close at 2,672.25 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,708.25 points and reached the day’s high at 2,711.4 points in the first seven minutes. For the next one hour, the market witnessed minor fluctuations before the index went to a straight fall to hit the day’s low at 2,664.75 points in the last hour. The market recovered around eight points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

All the 13 groups were the losers. Non-life insurance plunged the largest of 154.85 points, followed by trading and life insurance with a fall of 133.66 points and 112.66 points, respectively.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 5.21 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 5.23 billion from Rs 4.40 billion on Sunday.
Among the individual companies, 22 were gainers while 229 were recorded as losers. Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 306.85 million.
Barahi Hydropower Public Limited had the biggest fall of 5.28 percent in its market value. The Him Star Urja Company Limited was recorded as the highest gainer, adding 9.99 percent on Monday.
