Daily turnover at NEPSE plummets to Rs 5.16 billion from Rs 9.22 billion in two days

The daily turnover at the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plummeted to Rs 5.16 billion on Wednesday from Rs 9.22 billion on Monday amid depleting confidence of the investors in stocks trading.

KATHMANDU, June 4: The daily turnover at the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plummeted to Rs 5.16 billion on Wednesday from Rs 9.22 billion on Monday amid depleting confidence of the investors in stocks trading.



In intraday trading on Wednesday, the NEPSE lost 11.97 points to close at 2,646.95 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,658.93 points and reached as low as 2,650.13 points in the first 13 minutes before the index hit the day-high at 2,664.56 points in the next one hour. The index slid to the day’s low at 2,641.71 points in the last 22 minutes before the market closed for the day.

Only two out of the 13 groups were gainers, with trading groups adding the highest of 21.09 points. Of the losers, non-life insurance lost the largest of 83.97 points.


The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, lost 2.59 points. The daily turnover amount plummeted to Rs 5.16 billion from Rs 6.67 billion on Tuesday.


Among the individual companies, 66 were gainers while 181 were the losers. Arun Kabeli Power Ltd had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 362.55 million.


Corporate Development Bank Limited plummeted by the largest of 5.81 percent of its market value. Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer.
