5,000 kg of cannabis seized in Itahari

Based on a tip-off, a Koshi Province APF team from Pakali, Sunsari, intercepted two suspicious trucks at around 1:30 AM. A search revealed 158 sacks of cannabis packed inside the vehicles.

ITAHARI, Sept 14: Armed Police Force (APF) seized 5,000 kilograms of cannabis from Itahari early Sunday morning.



Based on a tip-off, a Koshi Province APF team from Pakali, Sunsari, intercepted two suspicious trucks at around 1:30 AM. A search revealed 158 sacks of cannabis packed inside the vehicles.

According to APF DIG Kumar Neupane, the trucks were found abandoned in front of a petrol pump. “It has not been determined where the cannabis came from or who it belongs to. The drivers are also missing,” he said.


The seized cannabis i.e. 124 sacks from truck numbered (Na 4 Kha 2901) and 34 sacks from truck (Ba 5 Kha 1169), has been handed over to Sunsari District Police Office for further investigation.
