Talks between protesting youths, army today: Agenda includes civilian government, parliament dissolution

The talks will cover issues such as forming a civilian government, dissolving parliament, and holding fresh elections.

Kathmandu, Sept 10: An official dialogue between protesting youths and the Nepali Army will take place today in the presence of President Ram Chandra Paudel. On Tuesday night, an informal discussion was held between representatives of the protesting youths and Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel.

The talks will cover issues such as forming a civilian government, dissolving parliament, and holding fresh elections. The protesting youths have been demanding the removal of political parties from power and the establishment of a civilian government.


Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah has backed the dialogue on the condition of parliament’s dissolution. The Army has urged the protesting youths to remain calm and join the talks.
