Students spend Rs 32.76 billion for abroad studies in a month, up 16%

As per NRB’s economic report for the second month of the current fiscal year, students spent Rs 32.76 billion from mid-August to mid-September alone.

KATHMANDU, Oct 15: Nepali students pursuing higher education abroad have spent a significant amount of money, according to the latest data from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).



As per NRB’s economic report for the second month of the current fiscal year, students spent Rs 32.76 billion from mid-August to mid-September alone. During the same period last year, the figure was Rs 28.20 billion — an increase of 16 percent.

Under the services account, travel expenses rose by 9.6 percent, reaching Rs 47.31 billion during the review period, compared to Rs 43.18 billion in the same period last year.


Similarly, net service income remained in deficit at Rs 31.16 billion, up from Rs 27.93 billion in the corresponding period last year.


Meanwhile, travel income under the services account increased by 9.8 percent to Rs 11.58 billion during the review period, compared to Rs 10.55 billion in the same period last year.
