Rasuwa Flood Update: 18 missing, 9 rescued

At least 18 people have gone missing in Rasuwa after a flood triggered by heavy rainfall in China. Among the missing are nine Nepali citizens, eight Chinese nationals, and three police personnel.

KATHMANDU, July 8: At least 18 people have gone missing in Rasuwa after a flood triggered by heavy rainfall in China. Among the missing are nine Nepali citizens, eight Chinese nationals, and three police personnel.

According to the District Administration office, a team comprising the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force has rescued nine individuals stranded in the middle of the river. Additionally, one police officer, however, managed to contact authorities and confirmed he is safe on an island in the river. 


The flood, which struck rat around 3:15 Tuesday morning in the Bhotekoshi River due to persistent rain in China, also swept away the Nepal-China connecting Miteri Bridge at Rasuwagadhi, Rasuwa, the National Disaster Reduction and Management Authority reported.
