KATHMANDU, June 20: Nepal’s imports reached Rs 1,644.79 billion in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year 2024/25, according to the Department of Customs.
Imports during this period rose by 13.15 percent compared to the same period last fiscal year. The trade statistics suggest that economic activity is rebounding, with both imports and exports increasing.
Foreign trade back on track: Exports doubled in Shrawan

Exports saw a sharp rise of 77.77 percent. Goods worth Rs 247.5 billion were exported during the 11-month period this fiscal year, up from Rs 139.2 billion in the same period last year.
A major contributor to the rise in imports was the raw materials for soybean oil, which remains a significant export product for Nepal.
In terms of monthly figures, imports in Jestha (mid-May to mid-June) totaled Rs 170 billion, marking the highest monthly import volume so far this fiscal year. The monthly import breakdown is as follows: Rs 128 billion in Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August), Rs 134 billion in Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September), Rs 128 billion in Ashwin (mid-September to mid-October), Rs 122 billion in Kartik (mid-October to mid-November), Rs 148 billion in Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December), Rs 161 billion in Poush (mid-December to mid-January), Rs 166 billion in Magh (mid-January to mid-February), Rs 157 billion in Falgun (mid-February to mid-March), and Rs 164.65 billion in Chaitra (mid-March to mid-April).
