Imports rise by 11.42 pc, exports surge by 95.75 pc in first month of current FY

Imports increased by 11.42 percent, reaching Rs 143 billion in July, compared to Rs 128.37 billion during the same period last year.

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: Nepal’s foreign trade showed notable improvement in the first month of the current Fiscal Year (FY), with both imports and exports recording growth, according to the Department of Customs (DoC).



Imports increased by 11.42 percent, reaching Rs 143 billion in July, compared to Rs 128.37 billion during the same period last year. This growth comes despite disruptions, as the Rasuwagadhi border point with China has remained closed since July 8, while Tatopani border was shut for three weeks in July.

Meanwhile, exports surged by 95.75 percent, totaling Rs 23.93 billion in July, compared to Rs 12.22 billion in the same month last year.
