KATHMANDU, Aug 25: The monsoon trough is hovering close to its usual position, while moisture-laden winds sweeping in from the Bay of Bengal continue to shape weather patterns across Nepal, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).

This afternoon, much of the country will remain under generally cloudy skies. Moderate rainfall is expected in many parts of the hilly and Terai regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim, in some areas of Lumbini Province, and across several other hilly regions. A few places in the remaining Terai belt may also get showers. Meteorologists caution there is a chance of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the hilly and Terai regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim.
By nightfall, cloudy conditions are set to persist nationwide. Moderate showers are likely in parts of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, with light to moderate rainfall possible in scattered areas of the remaining hilly and Terai regions. The MFD has also warned of the possibility of intense downpours at one or two places in the Terai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
