KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has reported that the monsoon trough is currently positioned south of its average location, shaping weather patterns across the country.

This afternoon, generally cloudy conditions are expected in the hilly regions, while other areas will remain partly cloudy. Moderate rainfall is likely at some locations in the hills and at isolated spots in the Terai. The MFD has also warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.
By nightfall, skies are expected to remain cloudy over Koshi, Madhesh provinces and the hilly areas of Bagmati Province with partly cloudy conditions elsewhere. Moderate rain is forecast at several places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati, along with a few areas in other hilly and Terai regions. The MFD has further cautioned of heavy downpours at one or two locations in both the hilly and Terai belts of Koshi Province.
