Indra Bahadur Baniya stakes claim for CM of Bagmati Province

PP leader Baniya filed his claim with the backing of the PP leader of CPN-UML. The position became vacant after CM Bahadur Singh Lama Tamang resigned from office on Sunday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 4 : Newly-elected Parliamentary Party(PP) leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Indra Bahadur Baniya has submitted his claim to the post of Chief Minister (CM) of Bagmati Province.



PP leader Baniya filed his claim with the backing of the PP leader of CPN-UML. The position became vacant after CM Bahadur Singh Lama Tamang resigned from office on Sunday.

Following the resignation, Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota had called on any Provincial Assembly member who can secure a majority with the support of two or more parties to stake a claim to the post, in accordance with Article 168(2) of the Constitution.
