KATHMANDU, Aug 15: Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya has expanded his cabinet, inducting five new ministers from the Nepali Congress (NC) on Friday.
The newly appointed ministers are: Kanchan Chandra Bade, Minister for Social Development; Prabha Chamling, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning; Urmila KC Nepal, Minister for Youth and Sports; Suresh Shrestha, Minister for Culture and Tourism; and Binu Rayamajhi, Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.

The swearing-in ceremony was administered by Province Head Deepak Prasad Devkota.
Chief Minister Baniya, who assumed office on August 5, had initially formed a nine-member council of ministers the same day. Previously, Shivaraj Adhikari from the NC was appointed as a minister without portfolio, while another NC leader Krishna Tamang was assigned the Ministry of Water Supply, Energy, and Irrigation. Adhikari has now been entrusted with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law.
From the CPN-UML side, Baniya had earlier appointed Madhusudan Poudel as Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr Dinesh Chandra Devkota as Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development, Bharat KC as Minister for Forests and Environment, Jayarath Thapa as Minister for Labour and Transport and Bindu Shrestha as Minister for Industry, Commerce, Land, and Administration.
