Daily turnover declines to Rs 7.08 billion as NEPSE sheds 8.41 points

KATHMANDU, May 15: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) slid marginally by 8.41 points to close at 2,611.85 points on Thursday. 



The secondary market opened at 2,620.27 points and reached the day’s high at 2,628.55 points in the first one hour. The market remained stable almost for the next one hour before it went downhill to hit as low as 2,606.09 points in the last half an hour. The market recovered around five points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Only three groups were recorded as gainers, while hotels and tourism by adding 322.83 points led the segment. Of the 10 losers, the development bank had its index shed off 116.86 points, the largest of all.


The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, lost 1.44 points. Daily turnover amount declined to Rs 7.08 billion from Rs 8.73 billion on Wednesday.


Among the individual companies, 82 were gainers while 164 were recorded as losers. Soaltee Hotel Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 461.91 million.


Corporate Development Bank, with a decline of 8.65 percent of its market price, was recorded as the highest loser. Om Meghashree Pharmaceutical Limited gained the highest of 9.99 percent of its market value.
