112 kgs of cannabis seized from electric car, three arrested in Makwanpur

MAKWANPUR, Aug 31: Police arrested three individuals along with over 112 kilograms of cannabis hidden inside an electric vehicle in Makwanpur on Sunday morning.



Acting on a special tip-off, a joint team from the Bagmati Province Police Office, Hetauda, and the Basamadi Police Post intercepted the vehicle during a checkpoint along the East-West Highway at Basamadi, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–3.

According to police, officers stopped an electric car with registration number (Ba Pra 01-002 J 6549) traveling from Newarpani toward Hetauda. Upon inspection, they discovered 112 kilograms and 790 grams of cannabis concealed inside the vehicle.


The arrested individuals have been identified as Sudip Tamang, 21, and Sabin Tamang, 20, both residents of Panchkhal Municipality–8 in Kavre, and Sagar Tamang, 22, of Sailung Rural Municipality–8 in Dolakha.


Police have taken all three suspects into custody along with the seized cannabis and the vehicle. The District Police Office, Makwanpur, confirmed that the trio has been remanded into custody by the district court under the Narcotics Control Act, and further investigation is underway.
