KATHMANDU, Sept 12: The United Kingdom has welcomed the appointment of Sushila Karki as the country’s interim Prime Minister, calling it “an important step after the events of this week.”
In a statement issued on Friday, the Embassy of UK in Nepal described Britain as Nepal’s oldest friend and affirmed its commitment to supporting Nepali aspirations for accountability and inclusive governance. “We recognise the challenges ahead and affirm our commitment to supporting Nepali aspirations for accountability & inclusive governance,” the statement read.
‘Lokman offered Rs 100 million bribe to then CJ Karki’

Karki, Nepal’s first female Chief Justice, was appointed as interim Prime Minister following a breakthrough deal between major political parties and representatives of the Gen Z movement, which had been staging nationwide protests against corruption and for accountable governance. The agreement also included the dissolution of the House of Representatives and hold fresh elections within six months.
