Two missing in Koshi River, APF divers deployed for search

Two individuals went missing while bathing in the Sapta Koshi River, located near the Barahakshetra Temple in Barahakshetra Municipality-1, Sunsari on Monday.

KATHMANDU, April 21: Two individuals went missing while bathing in the Sapta Koshi River, located near the Barahakshetra Temple in Barahakshetra Municipality-1, Sunsari on Monday.



The missing individuals have been identified as Navraj Bastola, 40, a resident of Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality-4 in Khotang, and Jenish Acharya, 16, a resident of Itahari Municipality-16 in Sunsari. They went missing at around 8:30 am while bathing in the river.

The Armed Police Force (APF) has deployed divers to assist in the search operation.


Following the incident, a search operation was launched by the APF. Initially, security personnel from the Security Post Chatar in the region were deployed to find the missing individuals. However, after their efforts proved unsuccessful, the APF No. 1 Bara Battalion Headquarters in Sunsari sent a team, including five divers led by an Inspector, to continue the search.


According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shailendra Thapa, the team reached the incident site and began the search operation.
