Two killed in Bajura jeep accident

Police suspect the accident occurred after the overcrowded jeep, which was carrying passengers coming to renew their social security allowance documents, went out of control on the rough road.

BAJURA, July 24: Two people died on the spot when a jeep met with an accident in Himali Rural Municipality of Bajura on Wednesday morning.



According to Inspector Dev Bahadur Chaudhary of the District Police Office (DPO), Bajura, the deceased have been identified as 76-year-old Bija Rokaya and 75-year-old Bacha Rokaya, both residents of Kyudi, Himali Municipality-5.

The jeep (Ba Pra 03–001 Ja 0338) was en route from Kyudi village to the office of Ward Number 5 when it crashed at Tunigada.


Police suspect the accident occurred after the overcrowded jeep, which was carrying passengers coming to renew their social security allowance documents, went out of control on the rough road.


Fifteen passengers were injured in the crash. Himali Rural Municipality has dispatched health workers along with an ambulance to the accident site, said Chief Administrative Officer Kul Bahadur Thapa.


Further details are awaited as investigation is underway, police said.
