KATHMANDU, Sept 12: An agreement has been reached to appoint former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Sushila Karki as the head of the interim government.
A meeting held at the Office of the President in Sheetal Niwas on Thursday night reached an agreement to this effect. President Ram Chandra Paudel had convened the meeting with Karki in the presence of Nepali Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel to initiate the process of appointing an interim leader.

The meeting, which began around 10 PM Thursday, concluded at 3:30 AM Friday. According to a source at Sheetal Niwas, President Paudel is set to appoint Karki as interim Prime Minister and administer her the oath of office and secrecy today.
Gen Z formally proposed Karki for the interim leadership on Wednesday. The decision to appoint her as interim leader was also backed by Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen), and Army Chief Sigdel.
However, the issue of dissolving Parliament remains unsettled, with another meeting scheduled for 9 AM today to finalize the matter. Sources said differences also persist on a few other constitutional issues.
