KATHMANDU, July 17: Nepali Congress leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala has welcomed former President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s return to active politics.
Koirala said that Bhandari’s re-entry into politics has inspired enthusiasm among women leaders across the country. “The return of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari to active politics has encouraged the entire Nepali women leadership community,” Koirala remarked.

Praising Bhandari, Koirala expressed her good wishes for the former president’s future political journey. “She is a capable, honest leader with a strong sense of political ethics. I extend my heartfelt best wishes for her upcoming political journey,” she said.
Bhandari, who served two terms as president, announced her return to party politics on June 28. Since then, she has been in the limelight and sparked debate. While many have criticized a former head of state rejoining party politics as a challenge to the spirit of the constitutional system, Koirala has taken a supportive stance.
