Following a meeting in Kathmandu on Monday, more than 100 delegates signed the petition calling for a special general convention and urged others to participate in the campaign.
The delegates stated that, to seek forgiveness for past mistakes and chart a better path for the party’s future, there is no appropriate platform other than a special general convention.
The NC has 4,743 general convention delegates from 165 constituencies, affiliated organizations, sister and goodwill associations, and overseas liaison committees. According to the party statute, a special general convention needs to be convened if it is demanded by at least 40 percent of the delegates.
