KATHMANDU, May 9: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) drew the speaker's attention, urging a ruling to direct the government to immediately appoint the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor.
In Friday's meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), RSP lawmaker Hari Dhakal drew the attention of Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, urging him to issue a ruling directing the government to immediately appoint the NRB Governor. He emphasized that the leadership of the NRB plays a crucial daily role in revitalizing the economy and helping the country exit the grey list.

He said, “This government has failed to appoint a Governor. There is gross political greed being shown in the institution responsible for implementing monetary policy, conducting quarterly reviews, and regulating the financial and monetary markets. In the current situation, where the economy is in a complex state, the role of the Governor is crucial every single day to keep it moving.”
He further said, “Each day of the NRB's leadership is crucial to getting the country out of the grey list. In such a situation, the appointment of the Governor has not been made due to political power-sharing. I urge the Speaker to issue a ruling directing the government to immediately appoint the Governor.”
The position of NRB Governor has been vacant since April 6.
