KATHMANDU, July 26: The monsoon trough is near its average position, resulting in a weaker influence of monsoon winds across the country, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has reported.
Currently, hilly regions across the country are experiencing generally cloudy skies, with a chance of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in the Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali Provinces.
Windstorm with rainfall likely today

The afternoon forecast predicts generally cloudy conditions over the hills and partly cloudy skies elsewhere. Light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, as well as in the hilly regions and isolated areas of other provinces. Windstorms are expected in some parts of the Tarai region of Koshi and Madhesh Provinces.
According to the DHM, generally cloudy weather is expected over the Koshi and other hilly areas, while partly cloudy skies are expected to prevail in the remaining regions at night. There is a chance of light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, as well as in isolated locations elsewhere.
There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in the Tarai region of Koshi Province and the hilly areas of Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces.
The DHM has urged the public and all concerned authorities to stay updated with the latest weather information.
