KATHMANDU, July 28: Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Hitendra Dev Shakya, reached Chitwan on Monday morning to address the ongoing power supply issues at the Chanauli distribution center.
As NEA’s technical team works to restore electricity as early as possible, Shakya arrived in Chitwan to oversee and expedite the repair efforts. “Repair work is underway to resolve the issue at the Chanauli branch,” he said. “I’m here to ensure a swift technical fix and restore regular electricity supply at the earliest.”

Shakya said he was in Chitwan to better understand the technical problems on-site and to coordinate immediate solutions. “I’ve been here since morning and am gathering more details from my team,” he added. “We’re optimistic that the issue will be resolved by this evening and regular supply will resume from tomorrow.”
Despite continued rainfall, the NEA technical team has been working around the clock. Shakya expressed confidence that the problem will be resolved soon. “Our technical staff have been working overnight. We aim to resolve the issues in Chanauli, Hardi, and other affected areas as quickly as possible,” he said.
He also inspected the Bharatpur distribution center on Monday and discussed issues observed there. “After Chanauli, we’re preparing to head to Janakpur,” he shared.
Shakya further mentioned that he plans to monitor technical issues related to the installation of deep boring systems in Janakpur and other areas of Madhesh Province to assess their impact on electricity supply.
