Party faced backlash after secretariat went to Nakkhu to receive Rabi Lamichhane’: RSP Province Prez

He also demanded clarification regarding a video showing central officials present at the site of the arson incident.

KATHMANDU, Sept 22: Devraj Pathak, the Lumbini Province President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has said the party faced a “backlash” after senior officials, including members of the secretariat, went to Nakkhu Prison to receive party president Rabi Lamichhane.



Pathak made the remarks during a province committee meeting held on September 20. He also demanded clarification regarding a video showing central officials present at the site of the arson incident. RSP spokesperson Manish Jha was seen inside the Nakkhu Jail premises when hundreds of demonstrators outside the prison began vandalizing and setting it on fire.

In the viral video, someone is heard asking Jha about the arson at the jail gate, to which he responds, “We didn’t do it.”


The full minutes of the Asoj 4 province committee meeting have been sent to the party’s central office. In a letter addressed to General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, the reports and concerns raised by province committee members have been documented and forwarded.
