KATHMANDU, Sep 12: Nakkhu Prison, where Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane is being held, has issued a notice calling on all inmates who escaped during the incident September 9 to come into contact.
Issuing a press release on Friday, the prison administration requested all detainees and prisoners who had fled to come into contact. “All inmates (detainees and prisoners) who escaped from the Nakkhu Prison are sincerely requested through this public appeal to immediately appear in public and fully comply with the prevailing legal process and procedures,” the statement issued by the prison administration said.

The prison administration also warned that if they remain absconding, not only will the punishment prescribed by law be implemented with greater strictness, but there could also be serious adverse effects on their future legal rights, facilities, and social reintegration process.
Likewise, they were urged to show respect toward law, procedures, and social responsibility. RSP Chairman Lamichhane had been detained in Nakkhu Prison for trial as per the court’s order in the case related to embezzlement of Swornalaxmi cooperative.
On 9 September, the prison administration was forced to release him citing security challenges after a large crowd of his supporters reached the prison. It is said that after Lamichhane was released, the remaining inmates also came out of the prison. Thereafter, more than 16,000 detainees and prisoners were released across the country 9 September and 10 September.
