The subcommittee's deadline has been extended by 10 days citing the need to write the report, engage in further discussions, and finalize the draft. The parliamentary committee meeting held on Monday extended the deadline.
The subcommittee has, however, completed clause-wise discussions on the 163-article bill. A total of 161 MPs had submitted 1,752 amendment proposals for the bill.
The committee had formed a 10-member subcommittee on March 21 to conduct clause-wise discussions on the bill and prepare a report. The subcommittee began its work on March 31. The government, meanwhile, pledged to the Nepal Teachers' Association (NTA) on April 30 that the School Education Bill would be passed by June 29.
