Parliamentary committee directs govt to engage with protesting Gen Z

During its Monday meeting, the committee also urged all protesting youths to present their demands calmly and in a disciplined manner.

KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives has directed the government to engage in talks with the protesting Gen Z generation.



During its Monday meeting, the committee also urged all protesting youths to present their demands calmly and in a disciplined manner. Education Committee Chair Amar Bahadur Thapa said the committee decided to instruct the Home Administration to exercise restraint while maintaining heightened vigilance during the protests.

The committee further directed the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to provide factual information regarding social media at its upcoming meeting.


Chairman Thapa appealed to the government to address the issues driving the protests. The Gen Z demonstrations have created tension in Kathmandu’s Baneshwor area on Monday.
