KATHMANDU, April 23: The House of Representatives will now convene on all days except Saturdays and public holidays.
Before the commencement of the annual session of the Federal Parliament, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire called the chief whips of various parties to his office and proposed the plan to operate the House meetings. The proposal was later approved by the meeting.

Due to the workload of pre-budget discussions, the policy and program announcement, the budget itself, and the School Education Bill, Speaker Ghimire stated that it is necessary to operate the parliament on all days except Saturdays and public holidays. The meeting also agreed that the calendar reflecting this schedule will be finalized by the Business Advisory Committee meeting on April 25.
In the meeting, Speaker Ghimire stated, “The Parliament is under pressure due to pre-budget discussions and the budget, in accordance with the provisions of the government's policy and program, and the Economic Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility Act. The Parliament also has the responsibility to prioritize the passage of the School Education Bill. The teachers have clearly stated that they won't move forward without the enactment of the law. They have even met with me personally and requested my support in taking the initiative.”
He further added, “As the subcommittee has committed to submitting its report by May 6, the parliament has made preparations to prioritize this matter accordingly. We will ensure that any day can be reserved in the calendar for the presentation of the bill in parliament. As soon as the committee submits its report, the parliamentary process for its passage will begin. The Civil Service Bill is also expected to come from the committee soon. Considering the technical constraints of the policy and program, as well as the budget, we must remain prepared to pass bills related to education, civil service, and others within this session.”
The annual session of both houses of the Federal Parliament is set to begin on Friday.
