KATHMANDU, Aug 21: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) declined the second day in a row with the index going down by 9.22 points to close at 2,757.97 points on Thursday.
The secondary market opened at 2,770.99 points, initially escalated to the day’s high at 2,775.35 points in one hour and 11 minutes, before going to a downswing. The index went as low as 2,757.18 points in the next around two hours. The market recovered by a nominal mark in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Hotels and Tourism faced the largest decline of 61.57 points after investors looked for booking capital gains out of the surge of the groups on Wednesday. Non-life insurance was the only gainer, with the group’s index increasing by 18.25 points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 0.69 points. The daily turnover dropped to Rs 5.02 billion from Rs 5.20 billion.
Among the individual companies, 53 were gainers while 197 were recorded as losers. Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 240.95 million.
The share price of Panchakanya Mai Hydropower fell 4.65 percent, the largest of all. Bikash Hydropower Company Limited had the highest rise of 9.99 percent in its market value.
