KATHMANDU, June 17: Daily turnover at Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) plunged by around 42 percent on Tuesday from the three-month high of Rs 13.18 billion on the previous day.
The secondary market opened at 2,658.66 points and spiked up to the day’s high at 2,670.26 points in the first 23 minutes. The index, however, plunged to the day’s low at 2,649.94 points in the next 40 minutes. The market recovered around five points in the remaining time before it closed for the day.

Three out of 13 groups were the gainers, with microfinance adding the largest of 51.77 points in its index. Of the 10 losers, hotels and tourism shed 114.01 points, the highest of all.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 0.67 points. The daily turnover amount declined by Rs 5.53 billion to Rs 7.65 billion compared to the amount recorded on Monday.
Among the individual companies, 99 were gainers while 148 were recorded as the losers. Sanima Mai Hydropower had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 749 million.
Pure Energy Limited gained the highest of 9.99 percent of its market value. With a decline of 4.62 percentage points, Guardian Micro Life Insurance was recorded as the highest loser.
