KATHMANDU, Sep 20 – Meteorologists have indicated the possibility of rainfall during this year’s Dashain festival.
Typically, the average date for monsoon withdrawal from Nepal is October 2. Coincidentally, Dashain Tika (Vijaya Dashami) also falls on the same date this year.
Monsoon not likely to weaken soon: Meteorologists

As the monsoon system remains active, experts say the chances of rainfall during the festival cannot be ruled out. However, the monsoon is expected to weaken in the coming days.
“The average date for monsoon withdrawal in the country is October 2. However, it can occur up to a week earlier or later. Given the current scenario, it is possible that the monsoon may persist until October 2,” said the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
In past years, rainfall during this time of year tended to be minimal. However, this year, heavy rainfall has already caused disruptions, blocking 14 points along major highways across the country.
