Meteorologists say rainfall likely during this Dashain

KATHMANDU, Sep 20 – Meteorologists have indicated the possibility of rainfall during this year’s Dashain festival.

As the monsoon system remains active, experts say the chances of rainfall during the festival cannot be ruled out. However, the monsoon is expected to weaken in the coming days.


“The average date for monsoon withdrawal in the country is October 2. However, it can occur up to a week earlier or later. Given the current scenario, it is possible that the monsoon may persist until October 2,” said the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.


In past years, rainfall during this time of year tended to be minimal. However, this year, heavy rainfall has already caused disruptions, blocking 14 points along major highways across the country.


Dashain is one of the biggest festivals in Nepal, marked by increased travel and heightened economic activity. With continued rainfall, regular movement and daily activities across the country are likely to be.
