KATHMANDU, July 22: Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Dhan Raj Acharya has been named as a member of a thematic committee under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Mayor Acharya was named as a member of the thematic committee for the local level as per Section 22 (1) of the Federal, Province and Local Levels (Coordination and Interrelations) Act, 2077.

Acharya was picked through a minister-level decision beginning July 17 from among 753 local units across the country.
Ministers for tourism from all seven provinces shall be the members of the thematic committee chaired by the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of the federal government.
After his appointment, Mayor Acharya has described this move as a part of ownership of the tourist city of Pokhara and the citizens of Pokhara from the federal government and added that Pokhara would be declared a tourist capital soon.
