KATHMANDU, May 1: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is set to provide skill-based training to 2,082 individuals. Mayor Balen Shah announced that the training will begin on May 21 at Tundikhel in Kathmandu.
According to Mayor Shah, the training is part of the city’s flagship program, “Employment and Income Generation for Kathmandu’s Prosperity.”

“The main goal of the fair is to teach skills to those who lack them, upgrade the skills of those who have received basic training, and provide the market with skilled human resources,” he wrote on Facebook.
He also recalled that the first “Skill Fair” was organized at Tundikhel on the occasion of Labor Day in 2081 BS. He stated that although 68,866 people had applied for training during that event, only 2,575 were selected for the program.
Among them, he claimed, more than 50 percent have already secured employment. “Most of them are now self-employed. For those still without employment or self-employment opportunities, the metropolis is coordinating with industries and companies to offer ‘on-the-job training’ as well,” he added.
