“At Ncell Foundation, we recognise that skill enhancement is fundamental to improving employability and creating sustainable livelihoods. Through our partnership with Kathmandu Metropolitan City for Seep Mela, we are proud to support an initiative that equips individuals—especially youth—with the practical skills needed to thrive in today’s evolving job market,” said Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, Director, Ncell Foundation & Special Projects.
The fair, which began on May 21, is currently providing skill-based training to 2,424 individuals across 10 sectors, covering 37 professions. These include high-demand areas such as cybersecurity, multimedia, programming languages (Dot Net, Java, PHP), digital marketing, artificial intelligence and its applications, drone and robotics technology, fibre optics, beauty and grooming, electronics repair, and specialised skills for supporting individuals with disabilities.
This year, a new training category—Special Ability Support Skill—has been introduced. It includes two professions: housekeeping and care services. The housekeeping training is designed for facilitators working with children with hearing disabilities, while the care services training targets facilitators working with children with Down syndrome and autism.
In the electronics sector, training includes laptop repair, air-conditioner and refrigerator repair, CCTV maintenance, and mobile phone repair. In the garments sector, training is being offered in garment fabrication and basic fashion design.
Under the construction sector, training is underway in professions such as electrician, plumbing, masonry, welding, and carpentry. In the hospitality sector, training is being provided in four areas: barista, waiter, fast food, and bakery.
The automobile sector features training in electric vehicle (EV) maintenance, light vehicle engine repair, and maintenance of both electric and fuel-powered motorcycles and scooters. The art and sculpture category includes training in Thanka painting and ceramics (terracotta). In addition, training is being offered in astrology and priesthood.
In the agriculture sector, training is being conducted in flower decoration. Likewise, training related to the stock market is also being offered. This collaboration between Ncell Foundation and KMC reflects the Foundation’s commitment to creating inclusive opportunities for youth and supporting initiatives that enhance employability and contribute to sustainable development, Ncell Foundation said in a statement.
The Ncell Foundation said it serves as a catalyst for positive change. "More than just a CSR initiative of Ncell, it is a dedicated platform for uplifting and empowering communities across Nepal through impactful community projects. From the urban centres of the Kathmandu Valley to remote villages in Nepal’s hills and plains, the Foundation is making a tangible difference—bridging the digital divide, improving access to healthcare and education, and fostering social inclusion,” it said in the statement. “At its core lies a commitment to connect with people, purpose, culture, and progress.”
