KATHMANDU, May 17: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has invited applications for the 2082 Skills Fair.
Engineer Shailendra Jha, the coordinator of the Skills Fair Implementation Committee, said that the fair, starting from May 21, will offer training in 34 subjects across 10 sectors.
Jha also stated that preparations are underway to provide the training free of cost in collaboration with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, the private sector and donor agencies. This year, the metropolis aims to provide free training to 2,082 individuals.
The metropolis has stated that training will be prioritized for residents living permanently or temporarily within the metropolis, residents of areas affected by the landfill site, persons with disabilities, and those who were previously engaged in street vending.

Nepali citizens between the ages of 18 and 58 will be eligible to participate in the training. The training programs offered in 34 trades across 10 sectors will run for a duration of 30 days. A total of 100 hours of training will be provided, with six classes conducted daily.
Training sectors and fields
In the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) sector, training will be offered in five trades: digital marketing, drones, robotics, fiber optics technician, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications.
Training in two trades will be conducted under the Special Ability Support Skill category for individuals with down syndrome and autism: housekeeping (for persons with disabilities – PWD) and care services.
In the electronics sector, training will be provided in four trades: laptop repair technician, AC and refrigerator repair, CCTV repairing, and mobile repairing.
Under the garments sector, two trades will be offered: garment fabricator and basic fashion designing.
In the construction sector, training will be available in five trades: electrician, plumbing, masonry, welding, and carpentry.
The hospitality sector will offer training in four trades: barista, waiter, fast food, and bakery.
In the Automobiles sector, three trades will be taught: Electric Vehicle (EV) maintenance, light vehicle machine repair, and electric and fuel-powered motorcycle and scooter repair.
The art and sculpture sector will have training in two trades: thangka and ceramics (Terracotta). Additionally, there will be training in Astrology and Priesthood. In the agriculture sector, training will be provided in floral decoration. The beauty and wellness category will include training for beauticians, makeup and hair, nail technicians, and hair cutting. Furthermore, there will be training related to the stock market.
