KATHMANDU, Sep 14: Sumana Shrestha, influencer leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Education Minister, has resigned from the party.

She informed her resignation through a message in the party’s central members’ social media group.

In a frustrating tone she has messaged the cadres of the party in a social media group saying she quit the party and now made it easier (for the cadres) to attack her in open. Signaling towards the chairman of the party Rabi Lamichhane she said that it was not right to expect from everyone in the party to carry the burden while never admitting mistakes and continuously repeating them.

“Never admitting mistakes, continuously repeating them, and expecting everyone in the party to carry the burden — if now the goal is to attack openly, I’ve made that easier too,” she wrote. “Do as you please for as long as you please. I have left the party.”

Her post is directed towards Lamichhane’s recent action who came out of the prison presenting ‘counterfeited’ letter from the prison management.

She also accused the RSP of placing the party above the country and the leader above the party. She stated that she had been raising criticism since that trend began, but it made no difference.

“I have been voicing ever since RSP started putting the party above the country and the leader above the party, ” said Sumana. “But it made no difference. On the contrary, it led to media trials. This is unacceptable.”

Earlier, she had stated via Facebook Live that she would not participate in the government led by Prime Minister Karki. She was the only lawmaker of the dissolved parliament who had participated the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister Sushila Karki. This has supported public speculation that she may join Prime Minister Karki’s new cabinet.
