KATHMANDU, Aug 15: The Embassy of India in Kathmandu celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day on Friday with flag hoisting, cultural performances, and community outreach programs.
Ambassador of India to Nepal, Naveen Shrivastav, hoisted the national flag, followed by a broadcast of President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the nation highlighting India’s progress since independence in 1947.
Pak Embassy in Kathmandu marks 79th Independence Day

As part of the ceremony, the Ambassador presented cheques worth Rs 6.4 crore from the Army Group Insurance Fund to widows and next of kin of deceased Nepalis who served in the Indian Armed Forces. The embassy also announced book grants for 39 educational institutions and libraries across seven provinces and 21 districts of Nepal to improve access to learning resources in remote regions.
Members of the Indian community in Nepal, local well-wishers, and the embassy staff attended the event, which featured patriotic cultural performances by students from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathmandu.
