KATHMANDU, Aug 14: On the auspicious occasion of the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Chancery. Ambassador of Pakistan Abrar H. Hashmi unfurled the national flag.
Members of the Pakistani community, Nepali friends, and Embassy officials along with their families attended the ceremony. This year, Independence Day was celebrated with the spirit of victory in “Marka-e-Haq,” according to the Embassy of Pakistan in Nepal.
On the occasion, Independence Day messages from Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read out.
Pak Embassy marks Independence Day
In his message, President Zardari said that Independence Day is a reminder of the courage, unity, and sacrifices that led to the creation of Pakistan. “Today, the entire nation pays homage to our founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and the workers of the Pakistan Movement for their struggle and sacrifices,” he said.
Similarly, Prime Minister Sharif said that the past 78 years reflect resilience, strong faith, and hope for a bright future. Despite facing several challenges, Pakistan has achieved significant milestones across various fields. “From economy to sports and defence to information technology, Pakistanis, with their unparalleled determination and courage, have written exemplary chapters of knowledge and skill,” he said.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan had excelled on both military and diplomatic fronts. “Through military preparedness, diplomatic finesse, and national unity, we have demonstrated our resolve to safeguard sovereignty while upholding global peace,” he said.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Hashmi paid tribute to the historic struggle of 1947 and the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers.
