In his response to the committee, Minister Lekhak requested committee members to arrange for him to respond directly in parliament since not all lawmakers would get the chance to hear his answers.
Some officials at the Tribhuvan International Airport Immigration Office are under investigation by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) concerning the visit visa case.
Opposition parties have accused Minister Lekhak of involvement in the visit visa controversy and have demanded his resignation. They have been disrupting parliamentary proceedings over the issue.
“If only the members of this committee had these questions, I would have responded here. But since others also have these queries, my request is to allow me to speak in the House, where I will answer all the questions raised,” he said.
