KATHMANDU, July 31: The country remains under the influence of monsoon winds, with the monsoon low-pressure system positioned near its average location, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM).
There is a possibility of heavy rainfall accompanied by thundershowers at one or two locations in the hilly areas and Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces. Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is also likely in a few places in the Terai region of Lumbini and isolated areas of the remaining Terai, including Madhesh Province.

This afternoon, skies will be generally cloudy over the hilly regions of the country, including Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces, and partly cloudy in the Terai, the DHM reported.
Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly areas of Koshi, Madhesh, and Sudurpaschim Provinces and partly cloudy in the Terai region.
Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is possible in a few places in the hilly regions of the country, in Madhesh and Sudurpaschim Provinces, and at one or two locations in the remaining parts of the Terai, according to the DHM.
