Govt forms committee to recommend NIA Chair

The committee is chaired by Vice-Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Prof Dr Shivraj Adhikari. Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay and expert member Dr Khomraj Kharel are also part of the committee.

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: The government has initiated the process to appoint a new chairperson of the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA). The government has formed a committee to recommend candidates for the position.



The committee is chaired by Vice-Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Prof Dr Shivraj Adhikari. Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay and expert member Dr Khomraj Kharel are also part of the committee.

The Cabinet, in its meeting on August 25, approved the formation of the recommendation committee.


The committee will recommend three names to the government, from which one person will be appointed as the chairperson.


The previous chairperson, Sharad Ojha, had been dismissed by the government. Following his dismissal, the process to appoint a new chairperson has been set in motion.
